Netflix has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming book to small screen adaptation, A Series of Unfortunate Events, that shows way more of what is to come. Get a sneak peak of Lucky Smells Lumbermill, Uncle Monty, The Incredibly Deadly Viper, and of course kooky Aunt Josephine.
When Netflix released the first full-length A Series of Unfortunate Events trailer, we couldn’t help but wonder whether the television series would stay true to the creepiness depicted in the children’s book series by the same name.
While we are given a sneak peak of some of the horrifying working conditions in the Lucky Smells Lumbermill and the crummy way in which the Baudelaire children are treated by Count Olaf, the newest trailer ultimately looks as if it is taking inspiration from the 2014 film adaptation that came before it. It seems as if the newest A Series of Unfortunate Events adaptation will stick to the tradition of dulling down the harsh edges of the original book series, to make the on-screen version more child-friendly.
Despite remaining sceptical about whether Netlix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will match up to our extremely high reader expectation, the newest clips are certainly fueling our excitement for seeing the on-screen return of the beloved 13-part book series. We can’t wait to see Neil Patrick Harris in action as Count Olaf; and find out what the platform, who brought us gems such as Stranger Things and Orange is the New Black, has in store for us.
Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is created by Mark Hudis and stars Malina Weissman (Violet Baudelaire), Louis Hynes (Klaus Baudelaire), and Neil Patrick Harris (Count Olaf).
A Series of Unfortunate Events is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2017.
