Get out your trainers and head to the wild to catch a Chikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile as Niantic rolls out a massive Pokémon Go update this week.
Niantic has announced their biggest update since the game released last year. Now, Pokémon trainers will be able to get their hands on 80 brand new Gen 2 Pokémon from Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, alongside new evolutions, encounter gameplay, berries, avatars and outfit choices.
According to Niantic, in addition to being able to catch 80 Gen 2 Pokémon, trainers will get more opportunities to evolve current Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region, into Pokémon from the Johto region. New evolution items, which will be needed to evolve select Pokémon, will be available at PokéStops.
The update will also change the way that Pokémon react when you try to catch them. While it is too soon to tell how this will effect gameplay, it is possible that the newly introduced reactions could make catching Pokémon more irritating than ever. Please spare us from any more stress, the headbutting was bad enough. But don’t fret just yet, the brand new berries being introduced will definitely give you a helping hand.
A Nanab Berry will slow a Pokémon’s movements making them easier to catch, and the Pinap Berry will double the amount of candy you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds. As always berries can be found at Pokéstops.
Dust off your Pokéballs and prepare your body for a sudden influx in vitamin D, because the massive Pokémon Go update is expected to roll out this week.
