New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have dropped the first trailer for The House, which sees comedy veterans Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell run an illegal casino.
Poehler and Ferrell play married couple Kate and Scott Johansen, who lose their daughter’s college fund and go to desperate lengths to earn it back. With the help of their neighbour Frank played by Jason Mantzoukas (Dirty Grandpa), the Johansens build an illegal casino in the basement of their house, equipped with a nail salon, massage parlour, strip club, and fight club.
Andrew Jay Cohen (Neighbors and 40-year-old Virgin) will not only be making his Director debut on the film but will also be penning the script.
The trailer has received mixed reviews from viewers since its launch, many of whom feel the comedy falls short. It is too soon to tell whether The House will deliver on laughs, but we expect the R-rated film to bring more humour, and possibly a red-band trailer, closer to its release.
The House will premiere June 30th.
