Will Smith and Joel Edgerton hit the small screen in Netflix’s new sci-fi action-thriller Bright, Directed by Suicide Squad’s David Ayer. The teaser trailer for the film has been revealed ahead of its December release date, which means it will be a long ten-month wait until the movie, which reportedly cost the platform $90M, hits the small screen.
The upcoming film is set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves and fairies coexist. Will Smith plays a human cop named Ward, alongside his not-so-human partner Jakoby the orc played by Joel Edgerton. The pair conduct night patrol where they battle their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies.
Ward and Jakoby work together to protect a young female elf and a long-forgotten relic, which could destroy everything if it lands in the wrong hands.
The first glimpse of Bright was revealed during the Academy Awards ceremony, the teaser was later released on Youtube where many expressed their excitement about Netflix’s venture.
Bright certainly has franchise potential, but there is no official word on Netflix’s plans for the small screen blockbuster.
The Netflix original is written by Max Landis (Chronicle, Victor Frankenstein) and Produced by David Ayer, Eric Newman (Children of Men, Dawn of the Dead), and Bryan Unkeless (The Hunger Games).
