Lovecraft and the 80s collide in this ultimate throwback horror film.
Screen Media Films has released a UK trailer for the Lovecraftian 80s throw-back The Void, which will be heading to cinemas in April following its successful film festival stint.
The Void follows Police officer Carter (Aaron Poole: The Conspiracy) who discovers a blood-soaked man limping down a desert road and rushes him to a local hospital with barebones, night shift staff. As cloaked cult-like figures surround the building, the patients and staff inside start to turn ravenously insane. Trying to protect the survivors, Carter leads them into the depths of the hospital where they discover a gateway to immense evil.
The creature feature film, which appears to pay homage to Lovecraft’s Cthulhu, is written and directed by Steven Kostanski & Jeremy Gillespie who are known for being part of the Astron-6 collective (Manborg, Father’s Day) and have worked in the FX department on major Hollywood productions such as NBC’s Hannibal, Robocop and Pacific Rim.
The film was placed in the official selection in six film festivals around the world and has since received favourable reviews from film critics.
The Void will hit select theatres in the UK and US from April 7.
