The trailer for the sixth season of HBO‘s Primetime Emmy award-winning political comedy Veep has landed online following its weekend premiere at SXSW.

The new season kicks off after Selina Meyer’s season five electoral defeat, which saw her losing the presidential election to Laura Montez and subsequently vacating the White House.

“Well this last year has been fun, you know, really fun,” says an on-edge Meyer on ‘CBS This Morning’.

“The loss hurt, but I did take this opportunity to reacquaint myself with an old friend of mine by the name of Selina Meyer.”

The trailer depicts Meyer volunteering to cover inner-city graffiti, visiting a refugee camp whilst ensuring Gary walks ahead of her to notify of any landmines, and posing for a painting that may accentuate certain features.

The ten episode season is set to explore Selina’s life as a short-lived former president.

Alongside the Golden Globe-winning lead lady, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep stars 2-time Emmy winner Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Reid Scott, Matt Walsh, Kevin Dunn, Gary Cole and Sam Richardson.

Veep is created by oscar-award winner Armando Iannucci. The show will return to screens for its sixth season on Sunday, April 16.
