Archie is going to get himself in trouble again, only this time, it will get someone killed.
It seems like the Grim Reaper is following Archie around. The red-headed date-loving character went from being killed off in 2014 in Death of Archie ahead of the modern reboot, and has since been plagued by a mysterious murder in CW’s Riverdale. While things have been relatively calm in the modern comics, writer Mark Waid is dialling up the drama.
In the 3-part event Over the Edge, Archie’s risk taking will reach its climax, as comic book writer Mark Waid and artists Pete Woods and Jack Morelli, promise to change the lives of Riverdale residents dramatically.
That’s right, we are talking a major character death here.
“Up until now, Archie and his pals have led fairly untroubled, normal lives,” said Waid.
“Suddenly, in one horrifying instant, that all changes when one of the kids looks death in the eye–and death doesn’t blink.”
In Over the Edge Archie Andrews’ and Reggie Mantle’s ongoing feud pits the two against each other in a thrill ride on the dangerous Dead Man’s Curve.
The story beings in May’s Archie #20 and continues in Archie #21 where a life changing phone call will leave Riverdale’s citizens in shock. The storyline will conclude in July’s Archie #22 where an end comes for one Riverdale’s most beloved residents – while the stage is set for years of new and undiscovered destines for the cast.
