The second trailer for The Mummy 2017 has Tom Cruise pulling off Edge of Tomorrow stunts in an action packed 2:30 minutes.
Universal Pictures has released their second trailer for The Mummy, this time showing off more of what can be expected in terms of the film’s villains and heroes.
The Mummy marks the official beginning to the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe, which sees a modern action-horror reboot of classics such as, The Invisible Man (Johnny Depp), Frankenstein’s Monster (Javier Bardem) and Bride of Frankenstein.
The Mummy follows the awakening of an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her. While safely entombed in a crypt beneath the desert, she has awakened in our current day, bringing a violent grudge grown over a millennia.
While the film is described as part-action-part-horror, it does seem to veer into superhero territory taking on a distinctive Marvel quality, seemingly leaving behind the distinctive spooky nature of the first film.
The Mummy stars 3-time Oscar award winning Tom Cruise, alongside Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle, X-Men: First Class), Javier Botet (The Revenant), and Russell Crowe (A Beautiful Mind). The film is directed by Alex Kurtzman (People Like Us), from a screenplay by Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange) and Christopher McQuarrie (Edge Of Tomorrow).
The Mummy hits theatres June 9, watch the trailer below:
