It has been a big week in film and television with Showtime releasing some brand new clips of Twin Peaks, Wes Anderson‘s Isle of Dogs receiving its first poster, and of course, 20th Century Fox releasing the first official Kingsman: Golden Circle trailer.

We will give you this week’s most important movie and television news right here so you can avoid falling behind.

1. Showtime promo trailer shows off new clips of Twin Peaks

Showtime has unveiled a 30-second Twin Peaks promo trailer which showcases some new high-quality clips from the upcoming revival. The video takes you on a journey back to familiar locations including the Sherrif’s Department and the RR Cafe.

That’s right, we finally have access to some damn good..and hot footage of the upcoming third season, which is set for release May 21.

2. Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs gets a release date and poster

A brand new poster has dropped for Wes Anderson’s next film Isle of Dogs. The upcoming stop-motion animation will hit the big screen April 20, 2018.

The poster revealed some of the big names that will be voicing the animated dogs, which include Edward Norton, Scarlett Johansson, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray.

Isle of Dogs will mark Wes Anderson‘s return to stop-motion following the filmmaker’s 2009 movie Fantastic Mr. Fox. The film will be set in Japan and will follow a boy on a mission to find his lost dog.

3. Tilda Swinton shares a creepy message in new OKJA promo

Netflix has unveiled a creepy new OKJA clip which features Tilda Swinton‘s Lucy Mirando telling a harrowing tale about pig’s nightmares.

Fair warning, if you aren’t into the idea of seeing cute imagery of pigs in a video that also showcases chunks of meat, it might be in your best interest to avoid this one.

4. Trailer released for Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Eggsy returns! 

This week 20th Century Fox released the official Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailer. The second instalment in the comedic spy film will once again test the agents’ strength as they are forced to defeat a ruthless enemy and save the world.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits theatres September 22 in the US, 28 September in Australia, and 29 September in the UK.

5. X-men movie release dates

This week 20th Century Fox revealed three X-men movie release dates:

  • Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone‘s New Mutants (working title: Growing Pains) is set for release on April 13, 2018.
  •  Ryan Reynolds will return in Deadpool 2 June 1, 2018.
  • The X-Men sequel, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, will hit the big screen November 2, 2018.

6. Captain America’s Joe Johnston to Direct ‘Narnia’ Revival ‘The Silver Chair’

Narnia is coming back to the big screen!

Captain America and October Sky Director Joe Johnston will take on The Silver Chair, the fourth book in the C.S. Lewis series.

7. New poster released for Valerian

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, fans have been treated to a brand new poster and image.

The poster showcases the film’s signature vibrant style with Valerian (Dane DeHaan), Laureline (Cara Delevingne), and, of course, Rihanna, taking centre stage.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is based on a long-running french comic book series created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières.

8. Tremors 6 gets a release date

For those of us who just can’t get enough, the Tremors 6 release date has been announced.

Tremors’ star Michael Gross has broken the news that the Universal film will make its way to screens January 30, 2018.

While some fans might be disheartened by the long wait, the star promised to keep everyone busy with frequent behind the scenes updates.

9. Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner join the Lion King remake

Seth Rogen (This is the End) and Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street with Billy Eichner) are taking on the role of the lovable singing meerkat and warthog Pumbaa and Timon. 

The pair will be joining Donald Glover who has already signed on to voice Simba, and James Earl Jones who will reprise his role as Mufasa, in the Jon Favreau directed remake of Disney’s 1994 film Lion King.

10. Callum Turner set to play Newt’s brother in Fantastic Beasts 2

Green Room‘s Callum Turner is set to play the part of Newt’s brother in the second instalment of Fantastic Beasts.

While no official news has been given on who the brother is, it is safe to assume that he will play older brother and auror Theseus Scamander, who is referenced in the first film.

Fantastic Beasts 2 is set in Paris, but it will also bring fans back to a familiar Harry Potter film location, the U.K.

11. Netflix 13 Reasons Why reportedly getting a second season

Netflix is reportedly on the verge of renewing 13 Reasons Why for a second season. While Netflix has yet to officially confirm the rumours, sources told Hollywood Reporter that Netflix is on the cusp of renewing the popular series and that “a writer’s room for the sophomore run has been up and running for a few weeks”.
