If you like horror you are in for a treat! Cast members have revealed that the second season of Netflix‘s Stranger Things will be more horror-oriented than its predecessor.
Last season, the show subjected fans to some pretty graphic imagery. We saw Barb’s slimy lifeless body trapped in The Upside Down (#justiceforbarb), and watched as Will gagged on a horrific slug-like creature. While we don’t know any specifics about the upcoming season, it feels safe to assume that the gross-factor will be dialled up a notch in season two.
In an interview with People Magazine, the Stranger Things cast members revealed some interesting information about the second instalment of the Netflix original series.
“There are going to be some challenges that the characters face that are real. That are disturbing,” says main cast member Finn Wolfhard, who, following his role in the upcoming Stephen King film ‘It’, is certainly no stranger to horror.
“I think this season will be a lot more dark. A lot more horror oriented. I think people are going to like it more than the first season.”
In an Interview with the Duffer Brothers last year, it was revealed that iconic writer, director and producer, James Cameron, was a major influence for the second season. Matt Duffer announced that season two will once again draw from some 80s faves, this time with influences from greats like Alien, Terminator 2, and Temple of Doom.
While we probably won’t see the Demogorgon (or any other possible otherworldly monsters) burst through anyone’s chest at the dinner table, we are certainly looking forward to some nods to one of horror’s most iconic 80s films.
Fittingly, Stranger Things season two will be heading to Netflix this Halloween. While you wait for the next season, why not re-watch the Stranger Things 2 teaser?:
