Fans have finally been granted a first look at the highly anticipated Stephen King adaptation, The Dark Tower.
The film follows Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) as he roams across Mid-World in search of the elusive Dark Tower, the nexus point of the time-space continuum. Deschain is searching for it in the hope that he can preserve the dying world – but someone or something else is out to destroy it.
The film’s stars, Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, were tweeting each other as their characters when they both dropped a tiny teaser trailer. Each of the snippets confirm that the official trailer will be released tomorrow!
“The war is over. You know what’s coming, the tower will fall,” McConaughey’s Man in Black says in the first teaser.

“I do not kill with my gun… I kill with my heart,” Elba’s Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, says in the second.

Stephen King also decided to give fans a sneak peek, releasing two new posters for the film. One features Elba wielding guns and has the words ‘One sworn to protect it’ plastered across it. The other, of McConaughey with some fiery debris, reads, ‘One sworn to destroy it,’.
A television adaptation of The Dark Tower is also in the works. According to Den of Geek, who caught up with one of the film’s producers, Ron Howard, the TV series all depends on whether the movie proves to be a success.
The Dark Tower film is being directed Nikolaj Arcel. The original release date (July 28) has been pushed back to August 4.
While we still have a long wait ahead, hopefully, the film’s cast and crew will continue to drop teasers to tide us over!
