The release of the long awaited Sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 Sci-Fi flick Blade Runner, is creeping closer. As a result, we have been blessed with two brand new posters for Blade Runner 2049, courtesy of the film’s twitter page.
The noticeably jarring posters feature the film’s main characters, Officer K (Ryan Gosling) and Deckard (Harrison Ford). In the first poster, Ryan Gosling is positioned next to a futuristic car, possibly meant to symbolise technology and a higher civilisation. Whereas Harrison Ford is partnered next to the head of an eroding statue. This could symbolise the end of civilisation and the breakdown of a once productive society.
The colouring of the posters could also symbolise a clash between these characters. Gosling is surrounded by a crisp ice-cold blue environment – with the clothing to match, while Ford appears in a warmer, orange climate, surrounded by sand. The aesthetic of this poster is similar to the teaser trailer (see below). While Ryan Gosling’s Poster shows us a glimpse of what could come.
Keep your eyes peeled for more information on the film in the next few months. With 35 years of hype behind it, it’s bound to make an impression!
Blade Runner 2049 is set to hit UK and the US cinemas on October 6, and Australia cinemas October 5, 2017.
