The Blade Runner 2049 trailer has made its debut, and it seems the visually stunning footage has put revival critics at ease.
Today, Warner Bros. Pictures unveiled a glimpse into the revival of 1982 sci-fi cult classic Blade Runner, which introduces Jared Leto‘s character, and brings us into an alternate reality where popular 80s products are all the rage, with Atari and 80s synth taking a starring role.
The trailer opens with a shot of silver-eyed Wallace (Jarred Leto) stroking the slimy head of a newborn replicant. “Every civilisation was built off the back of a disposable workforce,” he tells the shivering fully grown replicant. “But I can only make so many. Happy birthday.”
Later we see Ryan Gosling’s Agent K burst through a wall, and while nothing has been confirmed, it seems likely that the film will answer a drawn out mystery – are Deckard and Agent K replicants?

The sequel is set 30-years after the events in the original film and follows new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), who unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find missing Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner.
In an interview with MTV News, Ridley Scott revealed that the Harrison Ford was impressed by the script for the sequel film. “I sent him this [script] and he said it’s the best thing he’s ever read. It’s very relevant to what happened in the first one.”
Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Oscar Award nominated filmmaker Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Arrival), with a screenplay by original Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher and Primetime Emmy nominated Michael Green (Logan). The film stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Barkhad Abdi, and Dave Bautista.
