A24 has released a trailer for Kirsten Dunst film Woodshock, an unsettling genre trensending film which explores grief, isolation, paranoia and the reality-altering effects of a potent cannabinoid drug.
The 2-minute trailer for the hypnotic arthouse drama depicts Kirsten Dunst’s Theresa, as she wades through the tall trees of a Northern California forest.
Woodshock is the debut film of fashion design siblings Kate and Laura Mulleavy (Rodarte), who both wrote and directed the atmospheric feature. While it is the first time the siblings have stepped into the director’s chair, it isn’t their first time working on a film set. The pair were nominated for two awards in 2010 and 2011 for their costume designs on the film Black Swan.
In addition to Kirsten Dunst’s leading role, the film stars danish actor Pilou Asbæk who is best known for his role as Euron Greyjoy in Game of Thrones, Lorelei Linklater (Boyhood), and Green Room actor Joe Cole.
A24 has made quite a name for itself in recent years. The studio was nominated for eight Oscars this year, taking home the award for Best Picture for the film Moonlight, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali). In addition to this, the company has won the Academy Award for Best Actress (Brie Larson, Room), Best Visual Effects (Ex Machina), and Best Documentary Feature (Amy). A24 has also impressed in the horror/thriller genre with the critically-acclaimed films The Witch and Greenroom.
