The cult 1990s psychological horror movie, Flatliners, has been brought back to life with a brand new trailer for its modern sequel. Starring Ellen Page and Nina Dobrev, the first sneak-peak reveals a plot similar to the original, as a group of medical students experiment with their life.
In the trailer, we see Ellen Page bring an admirer down to the basement turned makeshift science lab, in the hopes that he will stop her heart. “What happens to us after we die?” says Page’s character Courtney. “The only way to find out is to see for ourselves.”
The 2:42-minute clip introduces us to our five leads, Page (Inception) as Courtney, Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries) as Marlo, Diego Luna (Rogue One) as Ray, Kiersey Clemons (Upcoming: The Flash) as Sophia and James Norton (Happy Valley) as Jamie. The group stop their hearts in increasing increments, triggering a near death experience with alarming side effects, as the sins of their past begin to hunt them down.
The Flatliners sequel is directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), with a screenplay by Ben Ripley (Source Code). Along with the new cast, the 90s horror will see original actor Kiefer Sutherland reprise his role as Nelson.
Flatliners will hit Australian cinemas on 28 September and UK and US cinemas on 29 September. Check out the trailer below:
