Gotham‘s Robin Lord Taylor is about to experience the ‘Mandela Effect’ in Periscope Entertainment’s new sci-fi thriller, according to Deadline.
The film hails from Would You Rather director David Guy Levy and writers Steffen Schlachtenhaufen and Levy. The Mandela Effect features a talented cast including, Robin Lord Taylor, best known as The Penguin in Fox‘s hit series Gotham, Charlie Hofheimer (Black Hawk Down), Aleksa Palladino (Boardwalk Empire) and Clarke Peters (The Wire).
‘The Mandela Effect’ describes an unusual circumstance that causes multiple people to experience the same false memory. Many believe the phenomena proves the existence of parallel universes. The term was coined in 2010 when blogger Fiona Broome used it to describe a collective false memory she discovered where many believed that the former South African President, Nelson Mandela, died during his imprisonment in the 1980s.
The term quickly spread and can now be found throughout online forums, most prominently Reddit. One of the most well-known examples of ‘The Mandela Effect’ online, is the conspiracy surrounding the popular children’s picture book franchise Berenstein Bears.
Joshua Fruehling, Levy and Schlachtenhaufen will produce the film. Still in its early stages, little has been disclosed about The Mandela Effect.
