It is time to head back to Amity Island!
In 2005, the Jaws soundtrack was named the sixth greatest film score of all time by The American Film Institute. There is no doubt that the iconic score changed the world. We hear the two-tone ‘shark’ theme when we feel something brush against our leg beneath the water, as we imagine gliding fins, sharp grabbing teeth, and blood, or when we simply feel the need to scare the living daylights out of our friends or siblings.
Williams’ score has become the heart-racing theme song of the shark, and, rightly so. In an interview with Lester Friedman’s Citizen Spielberg, composer John Williams described the epic shark song as having the “effect of grinding away at you, just as a shark would do, instinctual, relentless, unstoppable.”
Now, the 1975 score to Steven Spielberg‘s cult thriller, Jaws, is about to return with a bite! Courtesy of Mondo, you can relive the terror of John Williams’ Oscar Award-winning soundtrack. Featuring breathtaking package art from Phantom City Creative, the score will be released in full, exactly how it appears in the film, featuring music that has never before been available on vinyl.
The album is produced by Mike Matessino, who restored, edited and remastered every cue for the vinyl release, and has been approved by composer John Williams himself.
The Jaws score has been pressed on 2X 180 Gram Colored Vinyl, will set you back $35 USD and is expected to ship Late October 2017.
In addition to the 2XLP, Mondo has announced that it will release three versions of the vinyl cover art as posters.
