Marvel’s New Warriors has found its cast, including the one-and-only Squirrel Girl. The straight to order freeform series has cast Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us, Love) as tough as nuts Squirrel Girl, and Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) as Mister Immortal in Marvel’s first live-action scripted comedy, reports THR.
Marvel’s New Warriors follows six young people with powers living and working together. The New Warriors want to make a difference in the word…even if the world isn’t ready. Not quite super, not yet heroes, Marvel’s New Warriors is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once — except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.
Vayntrub and Theler will be joined by an ensemble cast, including, Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People) as Night Thrasher, Calum Worthy (Austin & Ally) as Speedball, Matthew Moy (2 Broke Girls) as Microbe and Kate Comer (Hello, My Name Is Doris) as Debrii.
Vayntrub will take on the role of Squirrel Girl the empowered fangirl who has the powers of a squirrel. She has an optimistic peppy attitude. Her best pal is a squirrel name Tippy Toe.
Theler will take on the role of Craig Hollis, aka Mister Immortal. Craig can’t die … or so he says. Craig has made little use of his amazing superpower.
Tardy takes on the role of Dwayne Taylor, Night Thrasher. Brilliant and slightly full of himself, Dwayne is a shameless self-promoter and entrepreneur who also deeply believes in justice.
Worthy will play Robbie Baldwin, aka Speedball, the impulsive people-pleaser with a misplaced sense of confidence. Robbie throws kinetic balls of energy that are completely out of control.
Moy will play Zack Smith, aka Microbe, the shy hypochondriac whose ability is that he can talk to germs that tell him where you’ve been, what you ate and who you hung out with.
Comer will play Deborah Fields, aka Debrii. Deborah is proud, funny and quick witted. Confidently out as a lesbian, Deborah is a low-level telekinetic, whose ability includes moving a paper cup.
