Disney has released a star-studded A Wrinkle in Time teaser trailer which brings to life Madeleine L’Engle’s fantasy classic.
For the first time since the release of the 2013 TV Movie, A Wrinkle in Time will be brought back to the screen in what appears to be a whimsical and magical recreation of the 1963 novel. A Wrinkle in Time is Directed by Ava DuVernay (Netflix’s 13th), the first African-American woman to direct a movie with a budget over $100 million. While we have only seen a short 1:49-minute teaser trailer, the 2018 film has already sparked keen discussion from online fans.
The trailer opens with a cover of Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams, as Chris Pine‘s heavily bearded character Dr. Alex Murry explains his scientific discovery which will allow travel by wrinkling time. The adaptation takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and ultimately, the triumph of love.
“The only thing faster than light is the darkness”
The first official trailer features a star-studded and diverse cast including Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Chris Pine, Zach Galifianakis and Moonlight‘s André Holland. In addition, the film stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion, Black Mirror), Michael Peňa (The Martian), Levi Miller (Pan), Deric McCabe, Rowan Blanchard (Spy Kids 4) and Storm Reid (12 Years a Slave, Sleight).
