Fox Searchlight has released a trailer for Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro‘s newest film The Shape of Water. Equal parts chilling and breathtaking, the 2:30-minute trailer for this otherworldly fairy tale takes us on a journey back to the director’s trademark dark fantasy roots.
Set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963, The Shape of Water follows Elisa (Oscar nominated Sally Hawkins), a lonely mute woman who works in a high-security government laboratory, trapped in a life of isolation and silence. But, when Elisa and her co-worker Zelda (Oscar winner Octavia Spencer) discover a classified experiment, her life is changed forever.
“If I told you about her, the princess without a voice…what would I say?”
