‘Men in Black’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ collide in the trailer for Netflix’s epic fantasy Bright starring Will Smith. The 3:06-minute clip opens with a shot of broom wielding human cop Ward (Smith) beating a fairy who is stealing from his bird feeder as he “takes the little homie out LAPD style”.
“Fairy lives don’t matter today.”
The action-packed thriller hails from David Ayer, the director of Suicide Squad and End of Watch, and screenwriter Max Landis (Chronicle). Set in an alternate present-day, the film follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward, a human (Will Smith), and Jakoby, an orc (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. The human and Orc must work together as they battle their personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, in order to protect a deadly, thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything.
In addition to the trailer, it has been announced that Atlantic Records, the team behind the soundtrack ‘Suicide Squad: The Album’, will re-team with director David Ayer to bring ‘Bright: The Album’ a companion to the upcoming film. More news about the global release of the album is yet to come.
Joining Smith (Men in Black) and Edgerton (Warrior) are cast members, Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, Ike Barinholtz, Enrique Murciano, Jay Hernandez, Andrea Navedo, Veronica Ngo, Alex Meraz, Margaret Cho, Brad William Henke, Dawn Olivieri, and Kenneth Choi.
Bright hits Netflix just in time for Christmas on December 22, 2017. The trailer below features a small taste of the exclusive music being created for the film, as well a whole lot of orcs, fairies and magical mayhem.
