If you’re a horror fan then you’re probably aware of the upcoming prequel to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Tobe Hooper‘s 1974 slasher classic. Now, the official Leatherface trailer has arrived.
The first trailer for the origin story Leatherface gives fans exactly what they are hoping for, blood, guts and the rip-roaring sound synonymous with the beloved franchise. However, the newly released green band trailer gives the film more depth than some might expect.
Although it opens in typical horror movie fashion, as a young and hormone driven couple almost hit a rogue animal with their car, viewers quickly receive the unexpected – Leatherface prepares to don the first of many masks.
French directing duo Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo not only spine-chillingly bring to life, Mama Sawyer (Lili Taylor), the family home, and the birth of the killer Leatherface (Sam Strike), but also portray Texas and the creepy characters within it – even those supposedly there to protect and serve – in an ominous, multi-dimensional and incredibly heebie-jeebie inducing trailer.
“Witness his creation.”
Something tells me the Sawyer family may not be the only ones to blame for the birth of this legendary horror icon and we cannot wait to bear witness!
The prequel film follows a teenaged Leatherface who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnapping a young nurse and taking her on a road trip from hell, while being pursued by an equally deranged Texas ranger out for revenge.
Leatherface will premiere on DirectTV on 21st September before being released in US theatres October 20th.
