The Netflix original series Ozark is being renewed for a 10-episode second season, the streaming giant has confirmed.
Ozark stars Jason Bateman (Zootopia, Arrested Development), Laura Linney (The Truman Show, Mystic River) and Julia Garner (The Perks of being a Wall Flower). The crime series follows a financial adviser who has been laundering money for the second largest drug cartel in Mexico. Financial planner Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) and his wife Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) relocate their family from the suburbs of Chicago to a sleepy summer resort community in the Missouri Ozarks in order to complete his laundering and save the life of his family. In the Ozarks, he bumps heads with both a local drug dealer whose business he inadvertently interrupts, and a clan of ruffians, led by their 19-year-old niece, who want his money, all the while avoiding the eye of a tenacious FBI agent.
“Ozark draws viewers in with a promising Breaking Bad feel but ultimately manages to set itself apart from the familiar TV genre, bringing a small-town filled with unique, quirky and dark personalities. Ozark will take you on a morally questionable journey leaving you intrigued, revolted and ready for more.” – read our review.
In addition to Ozark, Netflix recently renewed their wrestling comedy Glow, inspired by the short lived 80s professional women’s wrestling promotion.
