In the trailer for A24’s comedy drama Lady Bird, two-time Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan shows off some massive teen angst. The hyperdramatic girl throws herself out of a moving car, swipes bridal magazines, and clashes with her strong-willed mother.
I gave the name to myself. It is given to me by me.
In her directorial debut, Greta Gerwig brings to life a bold and humorous self-penned narrative. Set in Sacramento, California in 2002, Lady Bird explores the story of a family in a rapidly shifting economic landscape. Christine McPherson aka Lady Bird (Saoirse Ronan) and her Mother Marion (Laurie Metcalf) try to navigate a turbulent relationship. Meanwhile, the opinionated but loving Marion tirelessly tries to keep her family afloat with a nurses paycheck, after Lady Bird’s father (Tracy Letts) loses his job.
Lady Bird initially premiered at the Telluride Film Festival early this month, gaining favorable reviews from critics and setting itself up as an Oscar contender.
Lady Bird makes its official release November 10. Check out the trailer below:
