Prepare yourself, MTV has made an exciting Scream casting announcement!
Teen Wolf star, Tyler Posey, will be joining season 3 of Scream. The network veteran is known for his lead role on the show Teen Wolf – but something tells me his alpha claws won’t help him get out of this one.
According to MTV, Posey will play a series regular, a high school drop-out named ‘Shane’. “Shane is described as a drug dealer and party promoter who is always hustling in order to make money. But beneath that exterior, there’s more to Shane than anyone realizes.”
Joining Posey in Scream’s third season are cast members, Keke Palmer, RJ Cyler, Giorgia Whigham, Jessica Sula, Giullian Yao Gioiello, CJ Wallace and Tyga.
The slasher reboot will be filmed in Atlanta and focus on Deion Elliot, a local star running back whose past comes back to haunt him, threaten his future and the lives of those he cares about. Jamal (Tyga), Deion’s step-brother, is a hustler by nature and is willing to work any angle to make ends meet for those he considers family. Jamal and Deion may share the same blood but their worldviews couldn’t be more different. When Jamal’s ambitions don’t line up with Deion’s, it forces them to decide exactly how they fit into each other’s lives.
In addition to the casting changes, the reboot has a brand-new showrunner, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries‘ Brett Matthews. Matthews will also act as an executive producer on the series, alongside actress/rapper Queen Latifah, as well as Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty, for Flavor Unit Entertainment. Harvey and Bob Weinstein will continue to serve as EPs. The late Wes Craven has been named an additional executive producer, alongside Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad. Matthew Signer and Keith Levine are producers.
