A fake J. K. Rowling tweet about a long-term Hogwarts teacher romance has wormed its way into the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw copies of the 20th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter.
The House Editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which were released earlier this year, offer a bonus fact page that details information about the four Hogwarts houses. While most of the facts included offer an interesting insight into the history of the houses and the people sorted in them, The Rowling Library has discovered that one of the facts published is false.
The error reads: “Did you know? Professor Sprout had a long-term relationship with fellow teacher Professor Flitwick. Sadly, it didn’t work out but they remain friends.”
The false J. K. Rowling tweet was created by College Humor in a satirical article which jokes about the Author’s extensive knowledge of the wizarding world. While the renowned Author often tweets her fans interesting Harry Potter Lore and trivia, unfortunately, Professor Sprout (the Herbology teacher and head of Hufflepuff House) and Professor Flitwick’s (the Charms teacher and head of Ravenclaw) relationship is nothing more than muggle gossip.
Bloomsbury reached out to The Rowling Library to confirm that they are aware of the error, and will fix it in future prints.
