Netflix has released some hilarious data about its member’s viewing habits this year, and even called some people out for their weird and wacky movie bingeathons.
If you think your Netflix viewing history is embarrassing, you can breathe a sigh of relief, because your bingeing habits have nothing on the Netflix member who watched Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl a whopping 365 days in a row. If you are not entirely impressed by that feat, let me put it into perspective; the average Netflix viewer only watches around 60 movies a year, that means this pirate-lover binged over six times the average amount watching Pirates of the Caribbean alone.
The weirdness doesn’t stop there, after compiling some interesting data, Netflix took to Twitter to playfully shame the viewing habits of 53-members who spent the last 18 days watching the Netflix original film A Christmas Prince.
To the 53 people who’ve watched A Christmas Prince every day for the past 18 days: Who hurt you?

Before you start Googling how to delete your Netflix history, let’s all come together to share in the guilt of spending an exceedingly unhealthy amount of our year binge-watching Netflix.
Sure, we may not all share the same unique bingeing habits as the Jack Sparrow aficionado, or the 53 romantics waiting for their Christmas prince, however this year, Netflix members across the Globe are guilty of collectively spending a massive 140-million hours viewing Netflix a day (little more than one billion hours per week).
Based on statistics compiled between the 1st of Nov, 2016 and the 1st of Nov, 2017, Netflix has revealed a surprising list of shows that viewers ‘devoured’ this year. According to the data, Netflix members spent an average of two hours a day escaping reality by watching sci-fi television shows and whodunit mysteries. The mockumentary American Vandal scored top spot on the list of ‘The most devoured series in 2017’, followed by the sci-fi series 3% and the controversial suicide drama 13 Reasons Why.
- American Vandal
- 13 Reasons Why
- Anne with an E
- The Keepers
- The OA
- The Confession Tapes
In addition to revealing the most binged Netflix originals of the year, Netflix also released data detailing which shows sneaky couples are most likely to watch without waiting for their partners. Based on 60,000 survey responses from adult couples in 32-different countries, Netflix has revealed that Narcos, 13 Reasons Why, Stranger Things, Ozark, Orange is the New Black and Black Mirror are among the most tempting series to watch ahead of your significant other, and (while there is no data to back this up) we imagine they are probably also the most likely to cause some serious relationship issues – television cheaters, watch ahead at your own risk.
