The star-studded upcoming film Alien:Covenant, the second installment to Alien‘s 2012 prequel Prometheus, is off to a scary start with this simple but effective Xenomorph poster which urges you to “run”.
While the poster itself is looking good, many hard done by Alien fans remain skeptical of the newest installment.
Starring Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds, Prometheus), Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), and Guy Pearce (Memento, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark), Alien: Covenant is the sixth film to be produced under the Alien title.
As we move closer to Alien: Covenant’s release date Director Ridley Scott and cast have been working hard to ease the minds of his trepidatious audience.
Here are five promises Ridley Scott and the Alien cast has made about the upcoming film:
Ridley Scott claims the newest film will beat the 1979’s Alien chest burster scene
Alien: Covenant will be much scarier than Prometheus.
Speaking to Collider Scott said:
“It’s much scarier than Prometheus but it’s got the same sort of scope of Prometheus. It’s kind of got more of the sort of thriller, imminent disaster feel that Alien had, so it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films.”
Alien: Covenant will have a “hard R” rating
It might come as no surprise to those familiar with Ridley Scott’s love of blood, guts, and gore, but yes Alien: Covenant will have a hard R rating.
In a Golden Globe Awards interview, Scott said that he felt a sense of responsibility having witnessed audience reaction to the shocking kitchen scene, and even asked himself whether he had “gone too far” before coming to his senses saying “I want to try and do that again this year, but much worse.”
Iconics are back
Xenomorphs were taken out of the spotlight in Prometheus, only making an appearance near the end of the film. As the newest poster suggests, the iconic Xenomorphs are back! Ridley Scott promised that in the newest installment we would see familiar monsters once again.
“We’ll have them all: egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy. I think maybe we can go another round or two,” said Scott in a recent interview.
Aliens will be popping out of people once more
In an interview with the Inquirer lead actor Michael Fassbender promised impressive sets and more gross aliens scenes.
“It’s a fantastic mixture of high-end technology and primitive elements. The way that I can explain it is the same way that Ridley did ‘Blade Runner,’ said Fassbender.
“There are going to be great sets and aliens coming out of people.”
