The first teaser trailer has dropped for the highly-anticipated Blade Runner sequel, Blade Runner 2049.
The sequel to the 1982 neo-noir science fiction film, Blade Runner, is Directed by BAFTA Award nominated Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Incendies, Sicario, Arrival) and Produced by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien, The Martian).
Set thirty years after the events of the first film, Blade Runner 2049 follows new blade runner LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling) who uncovers a secret that has the potential to plunge society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a search to find former LAPD blade runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who has been missing for thirty years.
In a response to the age-old question ‘is Rick Deckard a human or replicant?’ Director Denis Villeneuve hinted that the secret would be ‘taken care of’ in the sequel film.
“The thing I must say is that I love mystery. I love shadows. I love doubts. I would just want to say to the fans that we will take care of that mystery. I will take care of it,” said Villeneuve.
While the short 1:45 min trailer only gives fans a bite-sized glimpse into what to expect from the upcoming film, many have taken to social media to express their excitement for the film.
