Bethesda has announced a release date for their Prey reboot. The sci-fi thriller will be released worldwide May 5 and will be available on the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. A new gameplay trailer has also dropped, which reveals the game’s narrative.
Prey takes place aboard Talos I, in the year 2032. Awakening aboard the moon orbiting space station, you discover that you are the key subject of an experiment which aims to alter humanity as we know it forever. However, the experiment takes a turn for the worst and you find yourself fighting to survive against a space station overrun by hostile aliens.
The gameplay trailer features voice over from protagonist Morgan Yu, as he tries to unravel the mysteries behind the invasion – and his own identity.
Alongside the news, Bethesda has announced an exclusive Shotgun Pack for those who pre-order. The pack will include Morgan Yu’s family heirloom the Margrave shotgun, and tools to fight the Alien threats aboard the Talos I, including, three Neuromods players can spend to acquire new abilities, two Medkits, a Fabrication plan to create the Shotgun and Ammo, a starter kit for building tools and weapons, and a unique upgrade to help players preserve their limited resources.
Prey was originally released in 2006 for Xbox 360 and PC. While Human Head Studios planned to develop a sequel to the game, Prey 2 , it was cancelled in 2014 and never saw a release.
The 2017 reboot Prey was developed by Arkane Studios, and will be available worldwide on May 5.
