Alien: Covenant prologue pays homage to iconic scene

Alien: Covenant

The official first prologue to Ridley Scott‘s Alien: Covenant has finally been released and it will have you reminiscing over one of the greatest scenes in Alien.

The nearly five-minute short film conceived by Ridley Scott and Directed by his son Luke Scott isn’t going to be in the movie itself, but it does help set up what we can expect in terms of cast chemistry.

The video introduces us to the crew of the mission as they gather for drinks, a final meal, and some banter before entering cryosleep – as well paying homage to arguably one of the best scenes in the original film Alien, “The food ain’t that bad”.

Set aboard the Covenant, a colonization ship on its way to a remote planet to form a new human settlement, a crew of couples and their android, Walter, prepare for how their lives will change forever. Of course, they have no idea just what lies ahead, when it turns out that their uncharted paradise is actually riddled with horrifying Aliens.

Alien: Covenant will premiere May 19, 2017

The film stars, Michael Fassbender (Assassin’s Creed), Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Billy Crudup (Watchmen), Danny McBride (Pineapple Express) Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Carmen Ejogo (The Purge: Anarchy), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Jussie Smollett (Empire), Callie Hernandez (Blair Witch), Nathaniel Dean (Somersault), Alexander England (Down Under), and Benjamin Rigby (Lion).
