Lionsgate has released production notes which reveal two original ‘Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers will return to the franchise to cameo in the upcoming Lionsgate film.
If you loved Power Ranger Green, aka Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank) and Power Ranger Pink, aka Kimberly Hart (Amy Jo Johnson), get ready to celebrate! The two original cast members will be returning to the world of Power Rangers, to cameo in the re-imaging of the popular 90s franchise.
While specifics about the original actor’s cameos are still unknown, their credits simply state Cameo Role #1 and Cameo Role #2, which means their involvement with the film will most likely be minor.
The news comes shortly following Collider‘s interview with Director Dean Israelite, which revealed the inclusion of an in-credit scene.
“There was always going to be a post-credit thing,” said Israelite.
“The only question was whether it comes 2.5 minutes into the credits, or right at the end. We decided to break (the credits) up and go 2.5 minutes in. It felt correct.”
The Power Rangers re-imagining will be penned by John Gatins (Real Steel, Need for Speed) and Matt Sazama (Dracula Untold).
The film will star Dacre Montgomery (Safe Neighborhood) as Red Ranger, Naomi Scott (Lemonade Mouth) as Pink Ranger, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin (Marco Polo) as Black Ranger, Becky G. (Hotel Transylvania) as Yellow Ranger, and Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) as Rita Repulsa.
Power Rangers will premiere on the 23 March 2017.
