A new teaser trailer has dropped for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, four long months after we were treated to the film’s initial sneak peak.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is based on Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières’comic series, which is believed to be a major source of inspiration for a plethora of well-known sci-fi hits such as Star Wars. The movie, which is set to hit theatres in July, is directed by French Filmmaker Luc Besson, who is known for his work on the cult science fiction film Fifth Element.
The 2:40 min clip gives us a sneak-peak into Besson‘s adaptation of the vivid sci-fi universe, giving us a glimpse at action-packed battle sequences, as well as out-of-this-world creatures and landscapes.
Starring Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, Lawless) and Cara Delevingne (Suicide Squad, Paper Towns), Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets takes place in the 28th century. Valerian (Dehaan) and Laureline (Delevingne) are a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the Minister of Defence, the two set off on a mission to the city of Alpha – an astonishing and ever-expanding metropolis where species from around the universe have converged to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with one another. A dark force threatens the peace of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the menace to safeguard the future of the universe.
