Marvel has unveiled the teaser for Thor: Ragnarok which features a gothic looking Cate Blanchett obliterate Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) hammer, as she takes on the role of the film’s main villain Hela. While the trailer kicks off with a Zack Snyder style darkness it soon takes on a distinct Guardians of the Galaxy vibe as it mixes the Led Zeppelin song Immigrant, with an 80s neon glow, and some light-hearted humour.
“We know each other!” cheers Thor, as the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) takes the ring in the gladiatorial battle. “He’s a friend from work.”
Ruffalo, who has a significant role in the upcoming film described it as an “intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor”, which will feature a whole lot more Hulk.
“The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger.”
Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi (Hunt for the Wilderpeople). The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, and Idris Elba.
Thor: Ragnarok is set to premiere on October 27 in the UK and November 3 in the US. Watch the teaser trailer below:
